Daeodon (sometimes known as "Dinohyus") was a genus of ominivorous mammal,
resembling a wild pig (the name "Dinohyus" means "terrible hog"),
that lived in North America during the early
Miocene epoch, between about 20 and 18 million years ago.
It was about 10 feet (3 meters) long, 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall
at the shoulder, and is believed to have eaten live animals,
scavenged carrion, and also eaten some plants.
