Marginocephalia are characterized by bony adornments to the skull, such as bony ridges or frills, and are belived to have first evolved during the late Jurassic period. Members of both the Ceratopsians and Pachycephalosaurs, survived until the end of the Cretaceous period, and were among those dinosaurs that died out during the Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction.
